Adobe’s VIP Marketplace Change

-
-

As a company, we’ve been struggling with how to communicate Adobe’s latest business change with our customers.  I’m quite aware that the only constant in life is change, but in Adobe’s world, it feels never ending.  And that’s coming from someone who worked with Adobe directly for 7 years before joining Logisoft…

I was working at the Education Distributor as the Adobe Sales Manager in 2020 when Adobe first launched VIP Marketplace.  I paid little attention to it at the time, because it was very new and only affected the commercial space.  As an Adobe manager, I got all the emails about Marketplace, heard the buzz from leadership, and knew it would eventually affect me in the EDU segment.  VIP Marketplace was going to replace the VIP program I knew, but I secretly hoped it would take so long to work out all the kinks that the day would never come!

The goal of VIP Marketplace is to turn renewals into a “set and forget” subscription purchase.  You know – like the subscription for that app on your phone that you forget about.  Automation, simplicity, efficiency.  Roll out the change for Commercial customers, next for Government, then Education.

So here we are, I’m about to celebrate 2 years at Logisoft, and VIP Marketplace has officially arrived for Education.  It’s been a slow start as the pros and cons for the Education space are weighed.  What works for other customers has never been the case for EDU.  For starters, while automated renewals might work great for small businesses, we live in a PO world.

I’ve spent the last few months digging into the entire VIP Marketplace Migration process and decided it’s time to share.  Here’s what I know so far.

  • The process itself is initiated by us, the reseller, and completed behind the scenes.  No action needed by you, the customer, at any point during the migration.

  • The changes for you are miniscule compared to other overhauls Adobe has made over the last 10 years.  No price changes, no product changes, and the Admin Console remains exactly the same.

  • Here’s what DOES change for you:

    • Your contract agreement number goes from a 20-digit VIP agreement to a shorter Contract ID.  But don’t worry – you can find that in your console, and we keep track of it as well!

    • The anniversary date is now your drop-dead renewal date.  No more

30-day grace period after the anniversary date, meaning the renewal window shrinks from 60 down to 30 days.

    • Your return window shortens from 30 to 14 days.

    • There are new SKU/part numbers, so your purchasing department may have to add a new part number or two.

    • The option for auto-renewals is available, but defaults to OFF for Education contracts.

While I know change is hard, we’re immersing ourselves in this one, and are equipped to guide you through it.  The biggest change for you is the removal of the 30-day grace period.  More and more manufacturers are doing the same, so it’s not just Adobe, but it’s still a hard change to swallow.  We can talk through options if you need a better anniversary date and support you through that as well.

This Adobe directive is just one of many things being thrown at you in 2025, but we’re here.  It’s not nearly the upset I thought it was going to be, and rest assured that our stellar support will carry over to the Marketplace transition too.  When you’re a Logisoft customer, you never have to go through these changes alone!  We got you.  😊
